Accenture Interview

Accenture interview practice

Accenture runs its own automated spoken-English assessment as part of graduate hiring in India — you answer prompts inside short timed windows and software grades how you sound. That much every account agrees on. Where it falls in the process, and whether it can end your application, are the parts nobody has settled.

The published guides genuinely contradict each other. One widely-read preparation site lists it as stage one of six and calls it the point where the largest volume of candidates stop advancing. Another lists it fourth, after the coding round, and says it eliminates nobody. A third says the same and adds that it is optional. Accenture's own careers pages do not name a communication assessment at all, and say only that assessment timing and requirements vary by role.

That disagreement is the most useful thing this page can tell you, because both halves of it point the same way. You cannot reliably predict when it will arrive, so you cannot leave it until you can see it coming — and you cannot safely assume it is harmless, because the sources calling it a formality are contradicted by one calling it the biggest filter in the process. Be ready for it from the first day of your application rather than from the day you reach it. This is a spoken rehearsal for that, and for the résumé-driven interview at the end. It is not the assessment itself, not a question bank, and not a way to score better on a machine — those adapt and are scored for integrity, and a page claiming to game one would be lying to you.

Drawn to scale from the timings below.
  1. Your invitation, which is the only binding schedule

The stages below are the ones a graduate candidate meets, and the order they arrive in varies between drives rather than being fixed. No published guide can settle yours and the company does not publish a sequence, so read what you were actually sent. Treating a general description as your timetable is how people get surprised by a stage they assumed was weeks away.

  2. The automated spoken-English assessment~30 min

You speak into prompts on a timed schedule and software does the grading. There is no interviewer, no reaction and no opportunity to read the room, because there is no room. Candidates consistently describe the absence of any response as the disorienting part, and the scoring is about pronunciation, fluency, vocabulary and how completely you build a sentence.

  3. The cognitive stage~45 min

Reasoning and verbal ability in multiple-choice form. This is the part almost every preparation site is organised around, and it is genuinely worth practising — the caution is only that an aptitude-shaped study plan quietly leaves the spoken stage with no time allocated to it at all.

  4. Technical assessment and coding~45 min

Programming logic, computer-science fundamentals and a short coding exercise. Performance here contributes to which engineering level you are routed towards, which in turn sets how demanding the later conversation is. The routing is not announced; it is inferred afterwards from how deep the questions went.

  5. The technical interview~30 min

The first human. Your résumé is the agenda: what you built, what you chose, what you would change. Object-oriented concepts, data structures, database and operating-system basics arrive through your own claims rather than as a checklist walked in order.

  6. The HR conversation~20 min

Motivation, flexibility, availability and fit for client-facing delivery. Some drives fold this into the same panel as the technical discussion, which means the person who has just pressed you on a design decision immediately asks why you want the job. There is no mental reset between the two.

What this interview assesses

Speaking Into a Timed Window

A short fixed response slot with nothing on the other side is a different act from conversation, and the common failure is spending the first third of it deciding how to begin.

Pronunciation and Pace

A machine assessing speech is measuring how you sound rather than what you would have written, which is why candidates with excellent written English are the ones most often surprised by their result.

Project Explanation in Conversation

The human round that follows works outward from what you built, so the depth that counts is whatever survives the interviewer asking why once more.

A Reason for Consulting

This employer places graduates onto client work rather than into an internal product team, and an answer that has noticed that difference is doing something the enthusiastic answer is not.

Sample Accenture Interview questions

A feel for the kind of questions you’ll face. The real interview reacts to your answers with live follow-ups — these are examples, not the exact set.

  1. 1.Introduce yourself in under a minute, starting with what you can do rather than where you studied.

What lands: Front-load the capability. A short slot rewards the sentence that says what you are for, and a chronological opening spends the window getting to it.

  2. 2.Describe a situation where you had to explain something technical to someone non-technical.

What lands: Give the actual sentences you used, not a summary of the encounter. This process assesses communication as a skill in itself, so demonstrating it inside the answer beats describing it.

  3. 3.Why consulting and client delivery rather than an in-house engineering team?

What lands: Show you understand what changes: multiple clients, changing domains, work that is staffed rather than owned. An answer that has thought about the trade-off reads far better than one that has only noticed the brand.

  4. 4.Take one project from your résumé and explain what it does, then explain why it does it that way.

What lands: Prepare both halves separately. The first is a description and most candidates have it; the second is a rationale and most candidates improvise it badly.

  5. 5.You have thirty seconds. Argue for or against remote working.

What lands: Pick a side immediately and give two reasons. A timed opinion prompt is assessing structure and fluency under a clock, not the merit of your position, and hesitating to be balanced is what runs the clock out.

GoRehearse is independent interview-practice and is not affiliated with, authorised by, or endorsed by Accenture. “Accenture” is a trademark of its respective owner. We do not reproduce or simulate Accenture's assessment, publish no question bank and no cutoff or package figures, and cannot influence any automated score; the official Accenture careers site and your own assessment instructions are the only authorities on your process.

Accenture Interview — the specifics worth knowing

Published guides place the spoken-English assessment in at least three different positions — first of all the stages, fourth after the coding round, and something taken once coding is finished — and Accenture's own careers pages do not name the stage at all. There is no settled public answer to when it happens.
How we know: Compared directly across three current preparation sites, which disagree, plus Accenture's own careers pages, which describe assessments without naming this one and say timing and requirements vary by role. Your invitation is the only schedule that applies to you.
Those same sources also disagree about whether it can end your application. One calls it an elimination stage and the point where the largest volume of candidates stop advancing; two others say every round eliminates except this one, and one of those calls it optional.
How we know: Both positions are stated plainly on current preparation pages and cannot both be right about one cycle. Where a claim is contested we would rather show the contest than pick the version that reads better.
It is not a Versant or SVAR test taken off a shelf. The company runs its own automated communication assessment, so guidance written about a different vendor's spoken test is describing a different product.
How we know: Reported as a proprietary assessment rather than a licensed third-party one. Where a guide names a specific vendor, check whether it is describing this employer at all.
What it measures is more stable than when it happens. The scoring is described in terms of pronunciation, fluency, vocabulary and sentence construction — the mechanics of how you sound, rather than the content of what you know.
How we know: These dimensions recur across otherwise-contradictory preparation pages, which makes them the part of the picture worth trusting. The exact weighting is not published anywhere.
We deliberately publish no exact prompt count and no exact response duration for that assessment, although other pages do. The reported figures disagree with one another and the format moves between cycles, so rehearsing against an unverifiable number is worse than the habit of starting at once and finishing your sentences.
How we know: Published preparation pages state different figures. Your own assessment instructions are the only authority, and they are shown to you before you begin.
The later technical conversation is generated from your own résumé rather than from a fixed syllabus, so two candidates in adjacent slots are asked different questions and neither transcript predicts the other.
How we know: Standard for résumé-driven technical interviews and consistently reported here. Anything on the document you submitted is fair ground.
No engineering-level cutoff, selection rate or compensation figure appears anywhere on this page. Those move every hiring cycle and the published pages carrying them contradict each other about what the current ones are.
How we know: Established by comparing competing preparation pages. The official Accenture careers site and your own offer documentation govern.

Common mistakes — and what to do instead

  • Deferring spoken-English practice on the assumption that the assessment comes late in the process, or that it is a formality you can walk into cold.

Be ready for it from the day you apply. You cannot time it from any published source, and the guides calling it harmless are contradicted by one calling it the biggest filter — so the safe assumption is the one that costs nothing if it turns out to be wrong.

  • Spending the opening seconds of a timed prompt deciding how to begin, and running out of window before reaching the substance.

Rehearse starting instantly on any prompt. A confident first clause buys the rest of the answer, and it is a mechanical habit rather than a talent.

  • Assuming strong written English guarantees a strong result from something that is only listening to speech.

Record yourself answering three prompts and play them back. Pace, filler and restarts are invisible from inside your own head and are exactly what a spoken assessment records.

  • Reading a guide about a named third-party English test and preparing for that instead of the assessment this employer actually runs.

Check what your own invitation names before trusting any guide's description of the format. Several widely-shared pages are about a different product entirely.

  • Answering the motivation question as though the role were an in-house engineering job, when the work is staffed onto clients.

Say something that shows you know the difference. Changing domains and client-facing delivery are the actual terms of the job, and naming them is a stronger answer than admiring the company.

Preparation checklist

  • Find out which assessment stage comes first in your own invitation
  • Practise beginning an answer within two seconds of hearing a prompt
  • Record three timed answers and listen for pace and filler
  • Prepare a sixty-second introduction that opens with capability
  • Have a rationale ready, not just a description, for one project
  • Work out what client-facing delivery means for your answer on motivation
  • Check whether your drive runs technical and HR as one panel or two
  • Test the microphone and the room you will actually sit the assessment in

Accenture Interview — FAQs

What is the Accenture communication assessment?

It is a spoken-English assessment graded automatically rather than by an interviewer. You respond to prompts inside short fixed windows with nothing reacting to you, and the scoring is described in terms of pronunciation, fluency, vocabulary and sentence construction — how you sound, rather than what you know. It is Accenture's own assessment rather than a licensed third-party English test, which matters when you are reading guides about it.

When does the Accenture communication assessment happen?

There is no reliable public answer, and pages that give you one confidently are not agreeing with each other. One major preparation site places it first, ahead of the cognitive test and the coding round. Another places it fourth, after coding. A third describes it as something you take once the coding round is done. Accenture's own careers pages do not name the stage at all and say assessment timing varies by role. The only schedule that binds you is the one in your own invitation, and the practical consequence of the uncertainty is that spoken English is not something you can safely postpone.

Is the Accenture communication assessment an elimination round?

The published sources flatly contradict each other, so treat anyone who sounds certain with caution. One widely-read guide lists it as an elimination stage and calls it the point where the largest volume of candidates stop advancing. Two others state the opposite in as many words — that every round in the process eliminates except this one — and one of those adds that it is optional. Both positions cannot be true of the same cycle. Since being wrong in one direction costs you nothing and being wrong in the other costs you the application, prepare as though it counts.

How long do I get to answer each prompt in the Accenture communication assessment?

Short — reported in the range of tens of seconds per prompt — but we deliberately do not publish an exact figure, and you should be careful with pages that do. The reported numbers differ from one another, the format changes between cycles, and pacing your speech against a number nobody can verify is worse than the simple habit of starting immediately and finishing your sentences. Your own assessment instructions are the only authority on your sitting.

Can GoRehearse make me score higher on the Accenture communication assessment?

No, and any page promising that is selling you something it cannot deliver. Automated assessments adapt and carry integrity scoring, so there is no script to memorise and attempting one is a worse strategy than speaking normally. What rehearsal honestly does is remove the novelty: the strangeness of talking into a timed slot with no reaction is a real cost, it is paid in the first prompts, and it can be paid here instead.

What happens in the Accenture technical and HR interview?

It is a conversation built from your own résumé — your projects, the languages you listed, fundamentals in programming, databases and operating systems as your claims invite them — followed by motivation and flexibility questions. Some drives run technical and HR as one combined panel and others separate them. Which applies to you is stated in your interview invite rather than in any general guide.

Why does Accenture assess spoken English at all?

Because graduates here are placed onto client-facing delivery work, where being understood on a call is part of the job rather than a bonus. That rationale is stable even though the mechanics around it are not: whatever the stage is called this cycle, wherever it falls and whether or not it eliminates, the reason the company is listening to you speak does not change. Preparing for the thing being measured survives a change in how it is administered.

Does Accenture have different graduate tracks?

It hires graduates into more than one engineering level, and performance in the assessment stages is what routes you between them. The distinction affects the depth of the technical conversation you can expect. Entry criteria change every cycle, so this page publishes none — the level you are being considered for is named in your own communications from the company.

What does this rehearsal cover and what does it not?

It covers the spoken parts: a timed self-introduction, speaking to a prompt with nothing reacting, and a project conversation with real follow-ups. It does not cover the cognitive test, the technical MCQ stage or the coding round, and there is no question bank here for any of them. It runs on pay-per-use credits with a free five-minute trial and no subscription.

How to rehearse this exact thing

  • Talking into a timed slot with nothing answering back

This rehearsal does not react either, which is the point of it. The strangeness of that silence is a real cost paid in the opening prompts, and paying it here costs a practice run rather than a stage of a hiring process you cannot retake.

  • The habit of starting immediately

You get told how long your answers ran and where they lost the thread. Candidates almost never predict their own opening delay correctly, and seeing the number is what fixes it.

  • How your English sounds rather than reads

The feedback quotes your own sentences back with the restarts and fillers left in. For a process that scores automated speech assessment against pronunciation and fluency, reading that once is the fastest correction available.

  • A project conversation that keeps asking why

Follow-ups are generated from your own answers, so a described project gets pressed for its rationale immediately. That is the same move the human round makes, and it finds the soft claim before an interviewer does.
